Supervisor Responsibilities

The Work-Study office, in coordination with Northwestern Payroll, must follow strict regulations when administering the FWS Program.  Failing to follow the rules of Federal Work-Study program may not only result in loss of participation for your department, but also for the university as a whole.

When agreeing to be a Work-Study Supervisor, you are not only agreeing to oversee and provide regular and consistent guidance to your student employee, but also will be responsible for signing all forms and approving timecards by stated deadlines.  The primary supervisor may designate a back-up supervisor in the university timekeeping system to assist in the primary supervisor's absence, but the primary supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all requirements are completed.
