Billing and Budget Estimation
Many newly admitted students and their families would like to know what the bill from Northwestern will look like.
Bill Estimate Tools
- Financial Aid Letter: If the student applied for and received financial aid, their financial aid letter (available on CAESAR) is a good tool to understand estimated billing as it estimates the directly charged costs for the first year.
- Sample Aid Award Letter: Check out our sample award letter for a guide to this document and how in interpret your letter.
- Northwestern's Net Price Calculator: This more detailed, 20-minute survey estimates the grants, scholarships and aid that may be available to gauge the "net price" of attendance.
Billing Request Form
In addition to the financial aid letter, incoming students may also want additional resources to know what their first-year billing will look like. Also, returning students may want to know what their bill will be if their enrollment changes or if they move off-campus. Our team is glad to provide estimates via our billing estimate request form, linked below.
Incoming students: please do not complete this request form until you've received an initial financial aid offer and you have decided to enroll in Northwestern for the upcoming fall.
What can I use this form to do?
- Request an estimate of the first year's bills
- Compare billing for on-campus and off-campus housing
- Compare billing and aid for Resident Assistants
- Understand how your bill may change for less-than-full-time enrollment

Please allow 7-10 business days for review of your request.
