JOB DESCRIPTION:

Available Fall 2019

OCEP is seeking Northwestern female undergraduates to work with 5th-8th grade girls living in Evanston to explore the integration of identity and STEM concepts (circuitry, sensors, coding, chemistry, etc.) through the creation of objects used by the girls on a daily basis (such as hair accessories, jewelry, lip gloss, t-shirts, websites, and birthday cards). Schedule (8-10 hours)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be an NU undergraduate student with a Federal Work-Study allotment for the 2019-20 academic year.

Mentors must possess a passion for working with middle school youth and knowledge of (or willingness to learn) STEM concepts & tools; must be dependable, have strong time-management skills. Prior experience in mentoring black and brown youth is preferred. Mentors must commit for the entire academic year.

PAY RATE: $12.25/hr
