Institute for Policy Research: Communications Assistant

Available Fall 2017. Two positions available.

Will assist the Director of Communications and the Communications Team and work in our front office. Work includes assisting with front-office administrative duties; helping to organize, publicize, and manage events; conducting Internet research; updating the website; and fact-checking/proofing; with room for writing and editing on social policy research topics, taking photos, and even some design work on publications and the web. Other duties as assigned.

Hours are flexible, scheduled between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., but with the understanding that assistants will help cover lunch periods when class schedules permit. Very occasional work some evenings for events, scheduled in advance.


Must be an NU undergraduate student with a Federal Work-Study allotment for the 2017-18 academic year.

Good organizational and communication skills, reliable, self-starter, detail oriented, computer savvy (Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobate are necessary; others such as Filemaker Pro, Cascade, and Dreamweaver would be helpful but can be learned on the job). Must have an interest in social and public policy issues. Editorial experience would be helpful. 

 PAY RATE: $10.00/hr
