JOB DESCRIPTION: 

Available Winter 2020

The Osburn Isotope Geobiology Laboratory seeks to understand the microbiology of a range of extreme environments including deep mines and caves using techniques from organic geochemistry to microbiology. We seek an interested undergraduate to assist in cleaning and sterilization of glassware, weighing samples, growth media preparation, microscopy, and spectrophometry. This role will interface with graduate and research active undergraduate students.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Must be an NU undergraduate student with a Federal Work-Study allotment for the 2019-20 academic year.

Familiarity with laboratory setting preferred; ability to work with little supervision. We are particularly interested in Earth, Environmental Science, Biology, or related STEM field majors and minors seeking laboratory experience. This position has the potential to evolve and increase in responsibility with time, up to and including independent research.

PAY RATE: $12.40/hr
