Rotary International: External Relations Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Rotary International


Available Winter 2020

Assist External Relations in its efforts to heighten awareness and support for Rotary among key influencers and institutions in the international community. Majority of time will be spent conducting research and supporting Rotary’s Representatives to the United Nations.


Rotary Representative Support

  • Help create and distribute communications and resources to Rotary’s Representative Network.
  • Respond to Representative requests for information and materials.

External Relations Support

  • Research opportunities for Rotary participation in high level international events.
  • Assist with the development of backgrounders and talking points for event delegates.
  • Support the planning and logistics for Rotary Day at the United Nations in Nairobi.
  • Assist in the logistics of the selection process for Rotary’s People of Action: Young Innovators
  • Distribute and collect surveys and reports from Rotary delegates to international conferences.
  • As needed, assist with Evanston outreach activities and events (possibly scheduled outside of normal work hours).


  • As needed, support Rotary’s Media Relations team and End Polio Now campaign.
  • Support, Rotary’s efforts to publicize outstanding Rotary members, clubs and projects through research and writing projects.

7-10 hours per week


Must be an NU undergraduate student with a Federal Work-Study allotment for the 2019-20 academic year. 

Strong written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented; ability to undertake multiple projects at once. Must be self-starter. Political Science, International Relations, Journalism, English or Communications studies and prior public relations experience preferred. International experience and proficiency in second language desirable. 

Eligible students have the opportunity to extend their work study with Rotary External Relations into the 2020-21 academic year.

PAY RATE: $13.50/hr
