JOB DESCRIPTION:

Available Fall 2017. 2 positions available

Opportunity to work with a nationally renowned university press that publishes 70+ books per year in areas including philosophy, literary criticism, and African American studies, as well as fiction, poetry, play scripts, and Chicago history. Students will gain valuable, wide-ranging work experience in the book publishing industry. Under the supervision of the NU Press editorial, design, and production staff, responsibilities may include: preparing manuscript files for copyediting and typesetting, proofreading and fact-checking, database management, and other administrative tasks as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be an NU undergraduate student with a Federal Work-Study allotment for the 2017-18 academic year.

Detail-oriented, independent worker. Excellent writing and organizational skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Some familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style or another style convention (MLA, APA) is a plus. Demonstrated interest in publishing; humanities or social science major preferred. 

PAY RATE: $10.00/hr
